Technical Writer
The Opportunity:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality internal and external documentation from requirements through creation to software development and delivery. Working closely with engineering, product, and other stakeholders, you will proactively gather information about our systems and processes, then translate it into clear written and visual documentation that explains platform functionality, workflows, and best practices.
Your Role:
- Produce and maintain technical specifications and documentation for evolving content workflows and internally developed tools, supporting both technical and business audiences, including REST API reference documentation and end-user product guides
- Establish processes and standards for documentation generation, organization, versioning, and ongoing maintenance.
- Enhance developer documentation by creating and maintaining relevant code samples and technical examples.
- Partner closely with engineering and product teams to ensure documentation accurately reflects system functionality and remains current throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Lead documentation discovery by interviewing engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to extract technical knowledge that is not yet documented.
- Manage and prioritize documentation needs across multiple projects and client engagements.
- Organize and maintain internal documentation in Confluence, ensuring information is clearly documented, easy to find, and accessible across teams.
- Develop and maintain standardized quarterly update decks, status reports, and roadmap templates to support product teams in tracking and communicating key information.
What You Bring:
- 5+ years of technical writing experience with complex apps for both technical and non-technical audience
- Experience writing use cases, requirements specifications, user flows, and technical documentation
- Experience gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into clear, structured documentation and technical specifications
- Strong ability to learn complex systems quickly and independently identify gaps in existing documentation
- Experience testing alpha/beta features to document functionality and provide user-focused product feedback
- Proficiency with modern documentation tools and platforms used to manage and version documentation across multiple applications
- Excellent writing and grammar skills, with experience following established style guides
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering
- Familiarity with REST APIs and software systems built with JavaScript or Python is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus
- Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Lucid, Figma, Swagger, and HackMD is a plus.
